Convert Content to Expandable HTML¶
Expandable HTML makes essential meeting information available directly within the agenda rather than requiring every reader to open a separate file.
Before conversion¶
- Confirm that the source is approved and complete.
- Separate public content from confidential content.
- Identify the heading hierarchy, lists, links, tables, and images.
- Decide whether a file attachment is still needed as a supplemental record.
Conversion workflow¶
- Open the correct Agenda Item.
- Add or edit the appropriate public or private Expandable HTML component.
- Enter concise Read text that tells the reader what will open.
- Transfer one logical source section at a time.
- Remove word-processor formatting that does not add meaning.
- Apply headings, paragraphs, lists, links, tables, and image descriptions structurally.
- Confirm that public and private placement is correct.
- Save in Draft Mode.
- Open the saved agenda and review the expanded content.
When transferring generated HTML, use the editor's Source control and follow Move the converted HTML into schoolboard.net. The control may be the far-right toolbar icon or may appear under … on a smaller window.
Review the result¶
Confirm that:
- the Read text is meaningful;
- heading levels are logical;
- lists are true lists;
- links describe their destinations and open correctly;
- tables remain usable on a phone;
- images have appropriate text alternatives;
- no comments, tracked changes, placeholders, or private information remain; and
- the content is in the correct public or private area.
Review the saved page
Do not rely only on the editing view. Save the draft, expand the content in the agenda, and review what readers will actually use.
AI-assisted conversion¶
An approved AI tool may help reorganize source content into cleaner HTML, but it must not be treated as the final authority. For the standardized v1 PDF-first process, follow Appendix: Google Docs and PDF to Expandable HTML. See AI-assisted HTML conversion for the broader guidance and optional direct Google Docs, DOCX, Gemini, and Claude workflows.
